Procedures for M.S. (Agronomy) and Ph.D. (Agronomy) students in the Department of Agronomy.

Overview: four stages

  1. Appointing or changing advisors
    • Appoint a main thesis advisor within the first semester.
    • If you cannot appoint an advisor, you must explain why.
    • At least one co-advisor should be a lecturer in the department.
    • Changing advisors requires the agreement of both the advisor and the student, with a clear reason.
    • Switching fields (plant breeding ↔ crop physiology and production) requires an interview by examiners from the new field.
  2. Submitting the thesis proposal
    • Submit within three semesters; you must pass the thesis proposal examination before submitting.
    • The proposal examination needs an appointed committee, and every thesis advisor must attend (held every month).
  3. Progress reports (used to grade the thesis course)
    • Use the form and submit by the last day of classes each semester.
  4. Thesis defence
    • The final oral examination (Exit Seminar) is open to the public for the presentation part only; visitors may ask questions and give suggestions.

Thesis proposal examination (held every month)

  1. Submit a request to Ms. Chuleeporn Nakphuang at the department office in the first week of the month, with two copies of the proposal, through your main advisor and the programme chair.
  2. The programme chair appoints one or two programme representatives.
  3. The examination is held on the last Thursday of the month.
  4. The department announces the students and examiners for each month in the week before the examination.

Notes

  • The programme needs one week to process a request.
  • All examiners must attend; an examiner who cannot travel may join online. If the committee is not ready, apply again the following month.
  • Travel expenses are paid for external examiners.
  • After passing and revising, collect your proposal and submit it to the Graduate School as usual.
